Benriner short history

In 1940 Uyuki Yamamoto invented a radish slicer in Iwakuni City, Japan. 5 years later, the company was officially established as "Benriner" after the product name. The first mandolin slicer was made with wood and supplied mainly to hotels and restaurants.
During Japan's economic development, wood was in short supply, so Benriner developed a new plastic product, made mass production possible so the mandolin slicer became popular also for domestic use.
